baisakhi mela festival concord 2008The 5th Annual Diversity Spring Festival will be held on Saturday April 26 at the Todos Santos Park Plaza in downtown Concord from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The festival is sponosred by the Interfaith Council of Contra Costa County, Therapeutic Residential Services, and the Federation of Inod-American Association of Northern California.

The Artists in Residence of Gallery Concord will present their 2007 Holiday Party and Mini Painting Show on Saturday, December 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at its location on 1765 Galindo Street, in downtown Concord. Gallery Concord reception to debut new watercolor exhibit, Oct 6

older-than-dirt-by-myrna-wacknov The Gallery Concord will hold a reception on October 6 from 1-3 p.m. to kickoff its Fall exhibit feautring the work of watercolor artist Myrna Wacknov.

The exhibit will run September 28 through December 30th. Jim Hudak, keyboardist, will provide music. Refreshments will be served. Admission is free but donations are gratefully accepted. The Gallery Concord is located at 1765 Galindo St, one block south of Willow Pass Road. Free parking is available off Clayton Road behind the Gallery. For more information call 925-691-6140.

Children’s Art and Literacy Festival, Sept 29

The Contra Costa Child Care Council invites the community to its 2nd Annual Children’s Art and Literacy Festival on Saturday, September 29, 2007, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The FREE family event will offer hands-on fun and live entertainment, including a Mother Goose appearance! Last year’s event attracted a crowd of more than 500 people. Join us for the outdoor Festival at the Child Care Council’s main office located at 1035 Detroit Avenue in Concord.

The Children’s Art and Literacy Festival will feature kid-oriented activities, including a puppet show, interactive storytelling in Spanish and English, art and book making, face painting, and live entertainment from pint-sized performers, including young Persian dancers from the Noisha Dance Academy. The Festival will also offer playful movement activities, such as Yoga for Kids, to engage children physically as they play and learn. Plus, there will be hundreds of FREE books and other giveaways from literacy and parenting tool kits to bookmarks and stickers for Festival participants. This is a family event for children of all ages.

Festival sponsors include Wells Fargo, Owens Financial/Owens Trust, and Standard Pacific Homes. KCBS-5 Anchor, Juliette Goodrich, will emcee from 12-1 p.m. The Children’s Art and Literacy Festival is about families coming together to learn through play and discover fun and engaging ways to teach young children to read and be creative.

Gallery Concord presents “Watercolor on Parade,” Jun 30

A reception will be held Saturday, June 30, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. to help celebrate the opening. Art, music , and refreshments will be served at 1765 Galindo St.

Sculpture art show at Ruth Bancroft Garden, June 16-17

The 13th Annual Sculpture In The Garden Show is an excellent opportunity to explore the beauty of The Ruth Bancroft Garden while viewing some exceptional outdoor sculpture by local artists. Participating sculptors represent some of the Bay Area’s very best artists, most of whom are associated with the Pacific Rim Sculptors Group and Walnut Creek’s Art-Scape Gallery & Sculpture Garden. This year’s featured artist is David Mudgett of Walnut Creek.
