Sen Torlakson to host hearing on Vacational Education, Feb 21

senator tom torlaksonSenator Tom Torlakson will host a hearing on February 21, that will examine the current state of Career Technical Education (CTE) in California’s schools.

Discussion will look at successes and challenges of current CTE best practices, and the potential for these programs to be an integral piece of the comprehensive high school reform efforts in California. The hearing will also highlight local efforts in CTE. The meeting will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Mount Diablo High School’s Multipurpose Room, located at 2450 Grant Street, in Concord.

CBO Roundtable on fundraising tech, Feb 21

Slow Food presents “Food and Farming” film festival, Aug 25

The Delta Diablo Chapter of Slow Food, will present a collection of films on the theme of “Food and Farming” on August 25 from 5-10 p.m. in the Community Room of the Library at Los Medanos College on 2700 Leland Rd in Pittsburg. Donation is $15 or $10 for students & Slow Food members. Enjoy screenings of “Ripe for Change” (Jed Riffe Films), “Eat at Bill’s” (Lisa Brenneis), “Harvest Young” (Scott Hardie), and “Slow Food on Film”.
