A brutally honest campaign mailer appearing in mailboxes today and financed by Warren Rupf, Contra Costa County Sheriff, endorses Assemblyman Guy Houston in the District 3 Supervisor Race. Sheriff Rupf says: “I’ve lost all trust in Mary Piepho.” Rupf is also quoted in the mailer saying, “Our County is not safe in the hands of Mary Piepho and that’s why I am 110% in support of Guy Houston.” Read more

You have to keep a sense of humor when campaign hit pieces are falling out of the sky! Especially if they are from big oil. What is really funny, is a recent piece from your local (ahem) Energy Companies. This over-zellish comic book claims Mary Piehpo “balanced” a budget! Unfortunately, when you add in the interest payments due on the County’s maxed out OPEB credit card, the budget is actually tens of million in the red. With math skills this bad no wonder we are looking at $5/gallon gas. I swear she doesn’t even know she does it, but last Sunday, the Times’ Lisa Vorderbrueggen emasculated yet another male politician in Contra Costa by pulling down poor Steve Thomas’ pants over a hasty cut and paste gaff in his campaign literature, while overlooking a similar no-no by “the girl,” who, apparently, can do no wrong. Howard Jarvis group drops Piepho, endorses Houston

The Howard Jarvis Taxpayer Association announced that it is endorsing Assemblyman Guy Houston for Contra Costa County Supervisor, District 3. According to a knowledgeable source in Martinez, incumbent Mary Piepho had received the Howard Jarvis endorsement during her first Supervisorial race but her poor performance on the County’s financial problems made another Jarvis endorsement impossible.
