Seminar shows non-profits how to prospect for donors, Sept 16

Prospecting Basics is an introduction to the process of identifying new donors for your organization. Diagnosis: Fundraising Success will help more experienced fundraisers determine if it is time to evaluate your agency’s fund development practices with a development audit. Prospecting Basics is taught by the Foundation Center, and Cheryl Clarke and Susan Fox - creators of Reality Grantmaking - are presenting the workshop on development audits. Prospecting Basics is offered in partnership with the CBO Center Center, Thursday, September 16th, 10:30 - 12:00, at the Concord Police Department’s Community Room, located on Galindo in Concord. Forum to connect volunteers with local community services

Have you or someone you know said, “I want to help out in my community but don’t know how? Starting September 9, then again on November 11, Hearing And Doing, a new speaker series for Central County, will offer participants an expert overview of some of the pressing social service and mercy needs in our community.
Each session meets at a location central to the topic, whether it’s literacy, hunger, aging, etc. A panel of service providers and volunteers will offer a wide range of experience and perspective. Agencies will be on hand to explain how you, or your family, office, church, or social club can get involved so you can make a difference.
The September 9 forum will discuss Literacy, and will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 at Cambridge Elementary, located at 1135 Lacey Lane, in Concord. Then, On November 11, a forum on Hunger needs in our community will be held at the Contra Costa and Solano Food Bank Warehouse, located at 4010 Nelson Avenue, Concord, from 6:30 to 8:30. Concord’s NextEnergy to be acquired by LoneStar Capital

NextEnergy of Concord is scheduled to be purchased by LoneStar Capital of Texas for $3.6 MM. NextEnergy has installed solar power systems throughout the state of California, its main focus is the Northern California territory. Residential installations account for 90% of NextEnergy’s revenues with small business installations accounting for the remainder. Mr. Randy Kauffman is currently the President and majority shareholder of NextEnergy.
San Ramon copies Concord?

The San Ramon Tribune says Republican Assembly candidate (AD-15) and Mayor H. Abram Wilson and the San Ramon City Council don’t listen to citizen concerns, and have already made up their minds about turning San Ramon into Concord with plans for three 8-story commercial office buildings. Congratulations to Concord’s PR machine…I think. Helen Allen will be crowing about San Ramon copying Concord, you watch.
Actually, if San Ramon council really wanted to copy Concord they would hire expensive consultants to form a citizen task force to conduct a five year study and make recommendations that will be ignored by Council. But this sounds more like an early salvo in the AD-15 campaign, but let’s see how Wilson’s Assembly race opponent, Joan Buchanan, weighs in on local planning concerning commercial office space, and land use issues.
