AB-624 to require foundations to collect race and gender data

ab 64 has non-profits track diversity hires, board make up and grantsLiz Callahan, Executive Director of The CBO Center, has sent out an all point bulletin to the Non-Profit community to inform them about pending legislation of import. AB 624 would require private, corporate or public operating foundations with assets over $250 million to collect race and gender data related to their governance structures and staffing, and to the governance structures and staffing of their domestic grantees. Conference to examine how generation change will impact non-profit community, Feb 1

The CBO Center will host a critical conference on February 1st, that will examine how the generation shift from Boomers to Millennials will impact non-profits. Sponsors include Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, the Chevron Corporation, and the East Bay Community Foundation.

Join nonprofit leaders for a day of learning and networking as the conference examines the many ways the aging of the Baby Boom population is affecting the nonprofit sector. Fast-paced workshops and stimulating panel discussions will help managers, administrators, and board memebers navigate the many changes and challenges nonprofits face in the areas of leadership transition, fundraising, board development, cultural competency and volunteer recruitment

IRS ADVOCACY RULES FOR NONPROFITS, 9/18
The CBO Center will present a workshop on Advocacy Rules for Nonprofits with Nayantara Mehta, Counsel for Alliance for Justice. The seminar will take place on Tuesday, September 18th from 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. The workshop fee is $45, and will explain federal laws governing 501(c)(3) lobbying, including how to determine lobbying limits for direct and grass roots lobbying, what counts as lobbying, and exceptions to the definition of lobbying.
