Robert Rao touts Assembly 15 campaign distinctives
February 22, 2008
In a recent mailer, Republican Assembly (AD-15) primary candidate Robert Rao, says Democrats want to:
“Raise your property taxes; Raise your income taxes; Raise the yearly registration on our cars; Close the State Historical parks…and early release of 22,000 prisoners”
Instead, Rao promises to target:
“Expensive and underperforming programs that have not met their goals; Hundreds of duplicate and unnecessary programs; Pork, fraud and waste out of government…and we can start by getting rid of the ‘elevator operators’ in the State Capitol. Our elected leaders can push their own buttons”
But with which hand will Rao press the electorate’s buttons? In pictures posted on his campaign web site we are given the impression Rao is ambidextrious; using both his left and right hands to sign documents.

Pinole Recall Wins; Faux Term Limits Lose
February 6, 2008
Forget the California Presidential Primary results.
If, as Tip O’Neill said, “All politics is local,” then the most important election results for Contra Costans last night were the landslide victory of the Pinole Recall and the loss of Prop 93, the cynical attempt by political insiders to dress up an incumbent insurance policy as term limit reform.
The Pinole Recall victory is momentous as it provides a wonderful example for cities like Brentwood, Concord, Disco Bay, and others where ordinary citizens (see video) were able to stand up to unions, the Democratic Party Machine, their curiously silent County Supervisor and neutered Republican Party, redevelopment interests, and an entitled incumbent, seemingly secure in her sinecure, to take back their City from runaway incompetence and pandering to special interests.
The defeat of Prop 93 is promising as it reveals that the electorate was able to see through the vast corrupt deception perpetrated by creeps like Dom Perata, Fabio Nunez, and their toadies in the Assembly, who, more often than not, get to choose their districts, rather than voters select them.
Assemblyman Houston promotes tax relief for disabled veterans
January 30, 2008
California State Assemblyman Guy Houston, (D-15), announced before a packed house, this past that he would soon be introducing legislation that would provide a full property tax exemption for all disabled U.S. veteran home owners in California. The current exemption of $100,000 of home value was passed in 1930, so the spirit of the law was to really take care of disabled vets, but $100,000 in California now is a pittance. Disabled veteran and Brentwood resident Bill Klug, (2nd Lt. US Army) researched the old statute and presented his findings to Houston.
Guy Houston stated, Saturday night, at the Marine Corps League crab feed, held at the Brentwood Veterans Hall, that “our disabled veterans have already paid their taxes, in service to their nation, on battlefields around the world, and that it (introducing and working to see this legislation passed) was just the right thing to do.”
The announcement was met with a thunderous applause by veterans present from all branches, from WWII, the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Desert Storm, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and the War Against Terrorism, as well as civilian supporters. Mr. Klug is active in the VFW, and is a veteran of Gulf War 1, and Operation Desert Storm.
