It is my honor to endorse Eleanor Thompson for Richmond City Council.Eleanor has lived in Richmond for 45 years.During this time, she has demonstrated commitment to serving Richmond residents. Here are the reasons why I encourage Richmond voters to elect Eleanor Thompson on election day.
Under Eleanor’s leadership, Social Progress has taught life skills classes, hosted job fairs, employed local youth, run a tutoring program, donated school supplies, fed hungry families, organized toy drives at Christmas time, and more.
Eleanor also serves on the Richmond Police Commission. As a police commissioner, Eleanor is responsible for reviewing complaints against Richmond police officers, reviewing police department policies and procedures, and developing programs and strategies to promote positive police-community relations.
Prior to becoming a police commissioner, Eleanor served as president of the Iron Triangle Neighborhood Council. As council president, Eleanor started a neighborhood watch program and lobbied Richmond City Council for improved traffic safety, better parks, and other public services.
Although Eleanor does not seek the spotlight for her works, she has received several awards, including Crime Prevention Volunteer of the Year for the City of Richmond.
In short, Eleanor Thompson has been a blessing to Richmond residents. Please vote for her on Election Day, November 6, 2012.
