New County Chief Administrator gets $250,000 base salary

David Twa, the County’s new Chief Administrator will receive a base salary of $250,000 per year, according to the contract signed yesterday by Supervisor Federal Glover on behalf of the County and Board of Supervisors. Twa will begin working for Contra Costa County September 8, and will replace John Cullen, who is expected to retire. Twa will also be credited 20 days of vacation and 20 days of sick leave. He can earn 20 hours per month going forward.
Twa will also receive a $20,000 moving allowance to help ease the sticker shock of moving from the frozen tundra of Minneapolis to sunny California. And the County has offered $2,500 per month housing allowance for six months. He can receive up to a 5% percent increase or decrease in compensation per year based on performance, as well as receive cost of living adjustments (COLA) to his salary the along lines of any COLA given to other department heads.

Let’s see here…………..they are telling the employees and taxpayers (of which I am both) that they are broke, need to cut retire health care, need to cut programs and they are giving this guy $20,000 to move and a $2,500 a month housing allowance…….Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Where did this money come from???? A money tree behind the BOS chambers???????

The Retiree Support Group was glad to get this info……Will add fire to the lawsuit they are bringing against the County for messing with their health benefits…..Also check out Ramsey County Minnesota…..The dude was making around $145,000 and CoCo County is giving him $250,000 plus $20,000 for “moving” expenses and a $2,500 a month housing allowance for the first 6 months…Hmmmmmm……Yep contracts are up 9/30/08 and the County is broke. This ought to fire up labor a bit
The money came from Federal Glovers pocket. Glover and his crew of cheepo depo’s know how to spend county dollars really well. I bet Glover used alot of county dollars to fund his campaign also. Wut a crooked…..
I can see where I will find my next career. You make more money being a lazy a$$ based on who you know and not on how hard you work.

Isn’t it amazing how the BOS always finds money on that magic money tree out back for someone/something they want but not for the workers??????? 60% raise for them. 2% for workers…..up to 38% for non-elected Dept Heads, 2% for workers…Generous package for TWA. cut retiree health care…….The masses need to stand up and revolt. By the way where is Kris Hunt and the Taxpayers Assoc in all of this. Why is this not firing them up. Oh yeah they are friends of the BOS too

I just hope that your move to Sunny California will not impact contract negotiations with the employees of the county. I would just love to hear the BOS state that they are broke after this one. The employees of Contra Costa County, were devistated after 18 months of negotiations in 2005 when the county cried broke, and offered 0%,0%,1% which also included medical copay increases and retirement benifit take aways only to turn around after a hard earned contract was signed to give Mr. Cullan an 8% bonus in pay which equates to $16400.00 Which is one employees yearly salary.
I also hope that you enjoy the 20 hours of vacation time each month that you are receiving right from the start, especially since all other county employees have to work thirty years for the county to achieve that level of benifits.

You leftout the Boards 60% raise and the fact that during negotiations they routinely tell us we can’t compare our pay to other counties yet the did this in order to come up with Mr Twa’s salary….Oh I can already tell it will be fun flying TWA…………….Can anyone say 24 months of negotiations and a strike?????
