I went to this school and I cut classes all the time. I think teachers are a big part of wanting to go to class. Teachers tend to treat the high school students like young children and use a disciplinary stand point because they are the boss. I agree, they are the boss but this doesn’t work for parents to take this position so why would it work for 6-7 strangers.
The best teacher I had was Mr. Howard. I always looked forward to his classes because he was light and cheery. It doesn’t matter how boring the subject he can make fun and jokes at both the students who like the attention and the subject matter that even the students know is not perfect. I would never allow my kids in the high schools here in this district purely because of the way the adults treat these kids.
At some point teachers need to treat these kids like adults. Many of them are already taking care of themselves and 99% think they know it all. At 17-18 these kids are almost adults. I lived in my own apartment at 17. Most are working by 16 and parents are not too involved with so many divorces.
Parents are a big part but have you ever had a teen? If so you know a lot of it is the kids they hang with. I think the fence is a waste, the kids will just not show up and then the school will just get less funding.
Looks great! At least they are not handing out body armor!
