The John Muir medical centers in Concord and Walnut Creek have again been earned high marks this year by U.S. News & World Report with both medical centers receiving national rankings! Combined, the two medical centers had 11 services nationally ranked or rated as high performing.
High Marks for John Muir Medical Centers

John Muir Medical Center Rankings
John Muir Health’s Walnut Creek and Concord medical centers were two of just 144 hospitals – roughly 3 percent of the nearly 5,000 analyzed – to be nationally ranked in even one of 16 specialties surveyed for the report. This places both medical centers among America’s Best Hospitals and two of the top ranked medical centers on the West Coast.
Walnut Creek — For the eighth consecutive year, John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek had services nationally ranked. This year, the services in the Top 50 were Orthopedics (#33), Gastroenterology & GI Surgery (#29), and Gynecology (#28). The Walnut Creek medical center has been nationally ranked in Orthopedics and Gastroenterology & GI Surgery for eight straight years and Gynecology for the past three years. In addition, John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek was ranked as high-performing in seven specialties, including Cancer, Diabetes & Endocrinology, Geriatrics, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Pulmonology, and Urology.
Concord — John Muir Medical Centers, Concord was ranked in the Top 50 nationally for the second time in Orthopedics (#46) and Diabetes & Endocrinology (#29). Along with the national rankings, the Concord medical center was ranked as high-performing in nine specialties, including Cancer, Cardiology & Heart Surgery, Gastroenterology & GI Surgery, Geriatrics, Gynecology, Nephrology, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Pulmonology, and Urology.
Metropolitan and State — U.S. News & World Report also published its San Francisco-Oakland metropolitan area and state hospital rankings. John Muir Medical Center, Walnut Creek is listed at #2 out of 46 hospitals in the San Francisco-Oakland area and #10 out of nearly 440 acute care hospitals in California. John Muir Medical Centers, Concord is listed at #3 locally and #12 in the state. John Muir medical centers were the only non-academic hospitals in northern California to appear in the Top 15 of the state rankings.
