Hindu Community Center awards grant to Concord-Diablo Rotary

The Rotary Club of Concord-Diablo announced it has received a grant from the Hindu Community Center of Livermore’s Shiva-Vishnu Temple to support the club’s efforts at Diversity Awareness, Adult Literacy, Polio Eradication and general community service projects such as the Picker Squadron that gets fruit from homes to the food pantries.

According to Edi Birsan, the Club’s Community Service Director who spearheaded the grant effort, “this is the first time known that a Rotary Club has received a grant from a Hindu Temple group in the U.S.”

Jim Ficenec, past President of the club accepted the award and spoke of the Rotary and expressed that the cooperation of the people dedicated to service above self would help unite all the communities in a greater good for all.
