Hilarious hit piece from oil companies touts Piepho’s faux record
May 28, 2008
You have to keep a sense of humor when campaign hit pieces are falling out of the sky! Especially if they are from big oil. What is really funny, is a recent piece from your local (ahem) Energy Companies. This over-zellish comic book claims Mary Piehpo “balanced” a budget! Unfortunately, when you add in the interest payments due on the County’s maxed out OPEB credit card, the budget is actually tens of million in the red. With math skills this bad no wonder we are looking at $5/gallon gas. And pick me up off the floor laughing, the laughable lords of industry also claim Supervisor Mary “I ♥ NEW FARM” Piepho single-handedly saved the Urban Limit Line, when she actually has done everything in her power to help Tom Koch build a plantation for rich white folks in the Diablo hills. If anything, this points out the BIG LIE… that despite their self-righteous claims to the contrary, the Piepho clan will take money from any source to win no matter what the payback is for developers, unions, and big oil.

Got something to say?

Leave it to Mary Piepho and BIG OIL to use a Sudanese (red, black, white, and green) flag for a campaign mailer. How funny is that! Looks like the voters of District 3 are getting drilled good and proper with this mailing.
Hey Bill, since you claim Mary takes money from oil or builders or both, then why not produce the 460 document that shows such? Surely you have it and aren’t just making this up, right?
Or is it possible that you don’t understand the independent expenditure process when it comes to these type of mailers?
This interest number you’re talking about got my interest. How does that work, having an interest value associated with a long term liability? Where is this number quantified and why isn’t in within the budget?
What I find really odd is Guy can’t seem to muster much more than a pathetic swipe in his responses. I guess all those Developers, refineries and Indian Gaming folks in his contributors list are still a little pissed off that he’s using their money in a local race which is not where they wanted to be.
That “Let’s set the record straight” deal was a joke and didn’t do anything of the sort. We still have a candidate that appears to have defrauded Seniors, then paid them off immediately prior to announcing his Candidacy. If the record is so flawed, then let’s indeed get it straight. Maybe cat still got his tongue?
Mary Piepho doesn’t need to “save” the urban limit line, she was the co-author and drew it up in the first place. You seem to have overlooked the fact that Guy was a New Farm supporter as well until he realized flipping his opinion would be politically expedient. New Farm is about simply asking the question, does it meet the current urban limit law. If it does, then it can go forward. If it doesn’t, it’s dead. Seems like a pretty innocent question that you’re making into something else.
~ EDITOR REPLIES — You talk about nothing other than appearances may haves, conjecture, and tiresome gotcha questions. It’s time for you to post your own opinion in the OPEN MIKE instead of simply taking cheap pot shots at everyone else. Please send us 300 words explaining how it is not an insult to ask us to believe the Piepho campaign isn’t in cahoots with independent expenditures. That way we can all have a good laugh.
I sure hope the people of District III are intelligent enough to see the scam work.
This is getting real ugly. The sad part is ” Put Your Boots On Boys The Sh..t Is Gettin Deep In District III “
” Piepho’s Faux Record “………………..
For those who do not know what ” Faux ” means. It’s Not ” Fox ”
It means ” FAKE ” , ” ARTIFICIAL “, ” UNREAL “,
Disclaimer: I looked it up in synonyms, but did not spell check

Is that a wordy way of saying you got nothing?
I asked you an honest question about the interest issue. I don’t understand the minutia of the budget and I believe that interest on a $1.6B bill could be substantial, but this isn’t “gotcha”. It’s asking for you to explain your statement in terms the average person can understand. Why would you take offense to that?
You really want to go down the guilt by association path?
~EDITOR REPLIES — Guilt by association? That’s your nightmare, sorry. I don’t play with people that can’t offer their own position but can only trash others. The invitation stands, though if you can handle the truth. Which I don’t think you can.
Big Oil can’t save Mary Piepho!!
Bill, are you kidding me? Haven’t offered my position?? Then what is all the whining about from your readers? Shadow boxers, all? The added site traffic from these exchanges alone damn near warrants a payroll check(made payable to Make-a-Wish Foundation, if you’re asking).
Which stance would you like me to repeat? Growth? Budget? Police services? OPEB?
Maybe getting a bit too pissy to be objective?
~ EDITOR REPLIES - Actually your invective, sniping, and vituperation are chasing people away. I have, more than once, offered you a way to state your case honorably on a topic of your choosing, but you throw it back in my face.
This ongoing childish behavior is not acceptable. As of today, your toady privileges have been revoked. Go stand in a corner until you can act like an adult.
Not sure where to place this comment but this thread started with a comments on piepho’s Urban Limit Line stance so I guess this fits.
In this run-up to the District III supervisors election there is a matter that I believe needs some additional scrutiny. Measure L pertaining to the Urban Limit Line was on the countywide November 2006 ballot and it passed. In recent campaign speeches mary piepho claimed a significant role in establishing and defending the Urban Limit Line. She also claims to be the protector of far East County, her “back yard”. Some time last year myself and may others learned that on the 1000 acres directly to the East of DB there was a housing development being planned of up to 6000 homes. A development of that size including up to 800 low income units would close to double the size of DB. The land in question is surrounded on three sides by water; is in the farthest East corner of the county and adjacent to a very old Hwy 4 bridge that is so narrow that even medium size trucks can not pass going in opposite directions. When at a meeting the developer was questioned about the property’s Urban Limit Line status I watched a lot of jaws drop when he said the ballot measure L in 2006 confirmed the property inside the line. None of the people who were there including me knew this particular parcel was included in that ballot measure, many did not even know there had been a recent ballot measure of this nature.
So now I ask, is it shame on me/us for not seeking out the map associated with this countywide measure and figuring out the local impact? Or is it shame on piepho for not being the “protector” of her back yard and supporting this measure while not pro-actively informing her constituents of the details and impact.
When considering this matter it is also important to know the 1000 acres of farm land in question, known as Cecchini Ranch is owned by Robert Cecchini who is listed on piepho’s website as a “grass roots supporter”. I do not blame Mr. Cecchini as he is doing what he needs to maximize his income. But if what happened is accurate I do blame piepho for being disingenuous or worse. In my opinion the people of DB and the surrounding areas should have been informed and we should have had a Supervisor who was honest and sought input from her constituents before backing a measure that could end up someday doubling the size of the community.
I am not an expert regarding the details of Measure L; I put together what I know from a county document given to me by the developer and comments from others who last year recalled what was and WAS NOT said prior to the November 2006 election. I welcome those with more insight to confirm or correct my details.
Jeff,
… Mary Piepho is on the BOS and her husband David is on LAFCO and DBCSD which all have some jurisdiction on the Urban city lines.
I find that suspicious at best and a huge conflict, self protecting and not serving the residents of DB best interest. Shame on us for not trusting our elected members based on what we all had to do to read the fine print and pull important info out of.
Irresponsible representation at all 3 boards that are designed to protect our interests.
The clarity of conflict of interest has been right in front of us if we dig past the smoke and mirrors.
Mary should look again at what her father stood for and not ride on his hard work.
Mr. Jeff: Mary Piepho claims to be the savior of the Urban Limit Line accept her attempt to have the line moved for Ron Nunn (Developer) to include his large piece of property he wanted to develope. However many became outraged at her attempts and she back off. She knew she could not win. Mary Piepho is like the fox protecting the chicken coup. Remeber she wanted to place E-Bart and voted for it in the middle of the Green Belt outside the Urban Limit line. The Urban Limit line is a thorn in her side. Why do you think she wanted the zip code expanded all the way to the Alameda County line. Do you think she really cared whether or not the people at that end had to drive by a Post Office to get to the one in Discovery Bay. Why do you think she is trying to get the MAC boundaries changed? Piehpo has never done anything unless she is going to get something out of it. Piepho showed her true ugly colors at the Discovery Bay Chamber of Commerce gathering when she was rude, and uncivilized toward Houston. The crowd commented about her ill-mannered demeanor and thought Houston was a perfect gentleman and ignored her broom she was riding. More mature actions by our immature Supervisor.
