Contra Costa Libraries to celebrate 5-million circulation, Jun 19

The Contra Costa Library system will celebrate passing 5-million items circulated this fiscal year. The Library reached the 5 millionth circulation mark at approximately 10:15 a.m. on, Wednesday, June 6.

The festivities will take place at the Concord Library at 2900 Salvio in Concord. Story time for kids starts at 10:00 a.m. Local leaders will make comments beginning at 10:30, featuring Supervisor Bonilla, who, with ongoing support from the City of Concord, local agencies and volunteers, has helped nurture innovative literacy efforts in Concord; followed by Vice-Mayor Bill Shinn, Keith McMahan, CEO of the Concord Chamber of Commerce, Anne Cain, County Librarian, Nancy Kreiser, Librarian, and Jessica Singh. Cake, punch, and more story time for toddlers to follow.

According to Library spokespeople, the 5 millionth item checked out was, “I am Not Going to Get Up Today,” by Dr. Seuss at the San Ramon Library. Patrons tracked the County system’s progress online via its Internet countdown at www.ccclib.org.
