AC5 to offer arts recognition awards, Oct 26

Contra Costa County’s Arts and Culture Commission (AC5) will present its 2008 Arts Recognition Awards, Sunday, October 26, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm, at St. Mary’s College Soda Center, in Moraga-CA. Those to be honored are Jerrold Hatchett - arts activist and volunteer, Elizabeth Koehler-Pentacoff - writer and teacher, Joan Landis - visual artist and volunteer, Oscar Reynolds - composer and performer of Bolivian music, and the Richmond Art Center - offering classes and exhibitions for over 70 years. Supervisor Glover schedules Town Hall meetings, Oct 7, 21

Supervisor Federal Glover has scheduled two town hall meetings for residents of the unincorporated areas of District 5, Bay Point and Bethel Island. The town hall for Bay Point is scheduled for 6 p.m., Oct. 7, at the Ambrose Center, 3105 Willow Pass Road, Bay Point. It will be followed immediately by the regular meeting of the Bay Point Municipal Advisory Council. Bethel Island’s town hall is at 7 p.m., Oct. 21, at Scout Hall, 3090 Ranch Lane on Bethel Island. The announcement comes from the tabescent Supervisor’s office so we can all rest easy knowing these meetings have nothing to do with his re-election campaign; and that the phrase “Federal Glover Delivers” will not be used.

STAND! Against Domestic Violence, invites community members to its 16th Annual Rebuilding Lives Luncheon, October 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Concord Hilton. The program will include a special tribute to Catalina Torres, a former client and continuing STAND! advocate, and Sergeant Paul Starzyk, who lost their lives September 6th trying to protect innocent lives from senseless violence.
