The MuirFest Gala 2008 will be held, July 3, at the Martinez Waterfront, from 5:00 p.m. til midnight. There will be a live and silent auction, catered dinner and drinks, enjoy the MuirFest Musical Celebration, post-show reception with dessert and dancing. Concord Markham Arboretum’s first Spring Plant Sale, Mar 1

The Azaleas are in full bloom at Concord’s Markham Arboretum. Take a leisurely walk and see Spring happen up close and personal. And, Markham’s First “Spring” plant sale is coming, Saturday, March 1, starting at 10:00 a.m. The following 4″ plants can be purchased for $1.00. Many pots contain more than one plant: Crocosmia, Feverfew, Foxglove, Freesia, Helleborus seedlings, Japanese Maple seedlings, Oxalis ‘Grand Duchess’ in white, pink, lavender, and Snapdragon. “Dust Storm” takes the stage, Feb 16

Dust Storm: Art and Survival in a Time of Paranoia, will be performed at the Concord Senior Center on February 16th, at 2:00 p.m. Rick Foster’s one-man play is about the art of survival in a time of xenophobia that tells the story of the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII. Paintings by Chiura Obata enhance the scenes. Hawaii’s Miyazono Minyo Buyo Japanese Folk Dance Group will also perform.
